Groundwater and ecology, in good hands. Dawaco: groundwater and ecology software, from people who know the field. Below ground, loggers measure day and night. Then come field rounds and lab samples, and everything often ends up in separate files. That costs time. And the BRO won't wait.

Meet Dawaco Phrea™: one web-based platform. Built on thirty years of domain knowledge, in the cloud or on your own server.

For each monitoring point you see where your data stands: provisional first, final in the BRO after validation. Every correction gets a reason: the spike goes, but the raw measurement is kept.

Change something locally, and Dawaco Phrea itself flags what must go back to the BRO.

All results side by side, tested against statutory standards. An exceedance stands out at once, and the Piper diagram shows the water type.

Time-series modelling (module): Pastas explains your groundwater level and looks ahead. For everyone coming from Menyanthes: Pastas with a map and a complete interface, and no programming.

AI assistant (module): Ask it the way you would ask a colleague. Every answer names its source and the caveats.

A comparison report shows what came across, and what did not and why. One system for your entire monitoring network, with your data in the EU.

One product, not a chain of vendors

The only platform in which data management, time-series modelling and an AI assistant are one product.*

Based on our own market verification, July 2026: no other commercial platform combines an AI assistant, time-series modelling and the full BRO chain in one product.

Here, data management, time-series modelling and the AI assistant are not three systems joined by interfaces, but one product. You notice it every day.

What you want to avoidWith Dawaco Phrea™
Exporting measurements to a separate modelling package
Models run on your own measurementsPastas time-series models use the same series you validate. No export, no second version of the truth.
Assembling BRO files, uploading them and keeping track afterwards
Your database is the source, the registry is an outputYour well history reaches the BRO the way the BRO expects it. And you never track by hand what changed after a delivery.
Searching reports and spreadsheets for answers
Answers from your own measurementsQuestions in plain language, answered with charts, maps and sources. The judgement stays with the hydrologist.

From the first measurement to the registry document

Six steps on the same data. What you validate in step two is exactly what the model reads in step four and what the Dutch Key Register of the Subsurface (BRO) receives in step six.

  1. StepCollectLoggers, fieldwork, lab
  2. StepValidateRaw data always kept
  3. StepQualityNorm testing and diagrams
  4. StepModelPastas on your data
  5. StepAskAnswers with sources
  6. StepDeliverBRO, both ways
  1. Step 01 · Collect

    Measurements arrive without manual work

Loggers, field rounds and lab results come in by themselves. Logger levels go to the BRO as provisional first and as final after your validation. Hand readings come from the FieldForm field app. And any supplier file can be imported safely: you see beforehand what will change, and you can undo it if you need to.

    More on data collection
Every file on trial first, and always reversible.
  2. Step 02 · Validate

    Your measurement stays your measurement

Correct without throwing anything away: every correction has a reason and can always be undone, and the raw measurement is kept. Automatic checks and an AI assessment put anomalies in front of you. You decide.

    More on validation
The spike goes, the raw series stays visible.
  3. Step 03 · Quality

Lab quality in the same system as your levels Module

Every result tested against the standards you choose, exceedances at a glance and the water type in a diagram. Lab, LIMS and delivery of groundwater analysis reports (GAR) sit in the same system as your levels, so nothing from the lab gets lost unnoticed.

    More on groundwater quality
    Exceedances stand out at once.
  4. Step 04 · Model

Time-series models on your own measurements Module

Pastas time-series models explain groundwater levels from precipitation, evaporation and abstraction, and look ahead with an uncertainty band. A complete graphical workspace for modelling (build, calibrate, assess, forecast), linked to your map: no programming, for one well or for a whole area.

Worked with Menyanthes? This is your graphical workspace for Pastas. From Menyanthes to Phrea

    More on modelling
Measured level, model fit and uncertainty band.
  5. Step 05 · Ask

Ask your question in plain language

Ask it the way you would ask a colleague. The answer comes from your own measurements, with charts, maps and rankings, and names its sources and caveats. It does not replace the hydrologist’s judgement.

    More on the AI assistant
    ?
The judgement stays with the hydrologist.
  6. Step 06 · Deliver

    The BRO chain, both ways

Register, deliver, fetch, compare and correct: every correction the registry allows, from your own records. Your well history reaches the BRO the way the BRO expects it, checked before it leaves. What changes after a delivery, you never have to track yourself.

GMW and GLD as standard; GMN, GAR and FRD as an add-on module.

Your records and the registry, in both directions.

Some functions are available as an add-on module. Time-series modelling is available as a module.

Menyanthes and Pastas are named here descriptively. Dawaco is not affiliated with the makers or rights holders of Menyanthes, nor with the Pastas project.

Checklist

What you should expect from a modern groundwater platform

Six requirements we hold ourselves to. Feel free to test any system you are considering against them.

  • Your own database as the source, the BRO as an outputRegister, deliver, fetch and correct from one set of records.
  • Your BRO history complete and correctChecked before anything goes to the national registry.
  • Never tracking by hand what changed after a deliveryWhat must go back to the BRO shows up by itself.
  • Your raw measurement always keptEvery correction has a reason and can always be undone.
  • Models on your own measurements, not on exportsTime-series modelling on the same data you manage.
  • An AI that answers from your data and cites its sourcesCharts, maps and caveats; the judgement stays with the hydrologist.

Built for the subsurface, from the well to the aquifer

Behind the workflow sit the records of a complete monitoring network. All in the same product, on the same data model.

  • Map workspace

All your well types on one map, neighbours compared and norm exceedances in colour.

  • Well records and pumping wells

Your wells fully on record: every level calculated against the right reference point, even years back. For pumping wells you see when capacity declines and what a rehabilitation achieves.

  • Fieldwork

Plan and walk field rounds with the FieldForm field app, linked to the same wells and filters.

  • From datalogger to registry

From logger to registry without manual work: provisional first, final after your validation.

  • Salinity monitor to FRD Module

Follow the fresh–salt interface all the way into the BRO.

  • Works with your network

With the loggers, registries and lab systems you already use. See the integrations

Some functions are available as an add-on module.

More on upgrading

  1. Trial migration

Your data from Dawaco GW, Datalab or BROLab is transferred automatically to a trial environment.

  2. Comparison report

You see what was transferred, and what was not and why. You decide on the basis of that report.

  3. One planned cutover

Then comes one planned cutover. The same team, the same support.

As SaaS or on your own server, with your data in the EU

Concrete measures, no promises without proof.

Your choice of hosting
As SaaS on Microsoft Azure in Europe, or on your own server. Either way, your data stays in the EU.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is Dawaco Phrea™?

Dawaco Phrea™ is the new version of Dawaco. It replaces Dawaco GW, Datalab and BROLab and brings the best of all three together in one web-based platform, built on thirty years of domain knowledge.

When is Phrea available?

Dawaco Phrea™ is available from October 2026.

Is Dawaco Phrea™ an alternative to Menyanthes?

Yes, for time-series analysis of groundwater levels. Phrea uses Pastas as its calculation engine and gives it a complete graphical workspace for modelling (build, calibrate, assess, forecast), with the map alongside. It is not a new version of Menyanthes, and not a copy: you work in one product that also covers your monitoring network, validation and BRO delivery. From Menyanthes to Phrea

Which BRO objects does Phrea support?

All five: GMW, GMN, GLD, GAR and FRD. GMW and GLD are standard; GMN, GAR and FRD are available as an add-on module.

How does the switch work?

First we run a trial migration, with a comparison report that shows what was transferred, and what was not and why. Then comes one planned cutover.

Does the AI assistant replace the hydrologist?

No. The assistant answers questions from your own measurements, with charts, maps and sources. The judgement stays with the hydrologist.
